Inside shadowbox wall decor is a pair of Dragon & Phoenix Chop Seal, embodied with poem from Song Dynasty.
Top of the seals, there are two vivid jade carving, dragon on the left and phoenix on the right. Dragon and Phoenix always symbolize auspicious and luck in China. The body of the seals, craftsman transformed the script of two poems here in a style of Chinese calligraphy. The poems are from a famous poet in Song Dynasty (960-1279). The poem on the left is to demonstrate his feeling when seeing a friend leave and the poem on the right is delivered the feeling for longing for spring. Poem in ancient China was written and read from up to down and right to left. Poem here is presented by this way with title and writer name on the right side. Stylish bird painting is at the bottom of each seal. Background is a rich Chinese style fabric and mounting on the front is dark khaki with dragon and elaborate pattern on it. The dark brown wooden case and the glass give the object a simple but elegant showcase.
The original of word cutting dates back about 3,700 years to the Yin Dynasty (1600-1046 BC)when cutting of oracle inscriptions is on tortoise shells. Seal-cutting flourished in the Qin Dynasty of 22 centuries ago, when people engraved their names on utensils and documents to show ownership or authorship. Out of this grew the cutting of personal names on small blocks of horn, jade or wood, namely the seals. Embodied with art design makes seal more than it originally means.
